Here it is. The final chapter of Hideo's story.
Thank you for reading and don't forget to support the mangaka by buying the manga when it becomes available in your country!
Btw, if you haven't seen the documentary Urasawa Naoki no Manben yet I recommend doing so. In this particular episode you can see Hanazawa kengo drawing I Am a Hero.

Edit: Ugh, Got DMCA complains again :(
Yeah, just read it on Batoto or whatever...

Thanks! though the ending was slightly disappointing, the overall ride was very good. Interested to see what his next series will be about. I guess we will have to wait for his spin-off series to fill in the gaps that was missed here.
ReplyDeleteWow, I don't think I've ever seen a manga that was so great and petered out with such a bad ending.
ReplyDeleteagree
DeleteIt has nothing to do with Hideo not being some big typical hero. It has to do with the story suddenly stopping, and no answers to all the crazy speculation and plot being provided.
DeleteMost zombie stories rarely end conclusively, so it might've been been the author trying to stick to the typical genre conventions.
DeleteAnd yeah, it's terrible that Hideo is probably going to die alone in Tokyo, especially since he seems against the idea of exploring the countryside. But that might be the point that the author was trying to make: that Hideo is doomed to be a NEET/loner for his life due to his habits.
What the fuck? This is serious? I used to rate 9/10 and now, with this ending will be something like 5/10.
ReplyDeleteWhat a shitty ending. I can't believe Hanazawa take 8 years to this shitty ending.
Looks like the only Hanazawa's manga which has an good ending is Boys on the run. Well, I hope his next work don't have an disappointing ending like this.
Thanks for everything Todome! You have done a great job. I hope you keep going with scanlations.
Take care and I hope I can scan/edit/translate like you one day (doing this on Portuguese, my native language).
Take care.
I agree! Hideo should go to Europe and beat big monsters like a shonen hero and SAVE THE WORLD just like in Naruto or Bleach series!
DeleteNo, dear anonymous genius. The series can be focused in other characters like it did at Korori arc or at least any character which eventually find out what is going on about ZQN stuff. (Remember the Italian which says an alien invasion was a possibility?). Hideo can have died in the middle of mess (even when that weird full eyes thing almost killed him), if the ZQN thing was explained, would be more satisfactory (IMO).
DeleteBut if you are a fanboy which thinks an author is always right and cannot disappoint, that is not my problem ^_^
Btw, I would buy the series if was released in my country cuz the series is amazing but the ending...
Thanks, i really appreciate you Todome.Cheers and peace.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this. I didn't expect a spectacular ending so I am satisfied by this chapter. ^___^ v
ReplyDeleteThank you for that awesome serie! I'm a just a tiny bit sad about this kind of ending....
ReplyDeleteFrom knowing it would be done just in a few chapters, i knew the answers that we seek about ZQN would never be resolved. And of course this ending doesn't give us anything. I am not the one who praises ones plot from its unpredictable ending or satisfying all the readers, but c'mon. This story is just too good to be hanging out like this. At least tell some hints about where those zombies go. Some readers just want all those curiosity get subsided. Still, it's an amazing manga for me. I've following this since chapter 3 and honestly this kind make me bewildered, what manga should i follow next that has the same feeling like I Am a Hero...
ReplyDeleteTodome Scans, you rocks! Keep your good work. I hope you choose some high quality mangas like this to be translated next :)
Completely disappointing. But, thanks for translating it mate.
ReplyDeleteVery good ending and you should go somewherelse.
DeleteThanks for seeing this through to the end.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU!!! :)
ReplyDeleteAlas it comes to an end....

ReplyDeleteWow ending shocked me

this ending.... T T #facepalm
ReplyDeleteIt has been a fun ride.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for your hard work.
thank you so muuuuuuuuuch! <3 you're the best
ReplyDeleteThank you for your hard work!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the spin-offs.
What a horrible ending. Literally 3 chapters of Hideo alone by himself, no closure as to what the ZQN were or their goals, or even the strange ZQN hybrids like in France and Spain. The last chapter shows that... Hideo has been alone for years? Long enough to become bald? Horrible just horrible, it's great that he's alive but come on, the chapters with him alone are completely unnecessary and just drain my enjoyment of the series. I expect this from Ito Junji not Hanazawa. You know what I will pretend the series ended when Hiromi was taken by the giant ZQN because that was the last thing that made any sense.
ReplyDeleteHopefully they will make an anime adaptation and it will fix the really bad shitty ending.
yeah..than ending. sheesh. but oh well. At least it ended. Thank you, todome
ReplyDeleteHello Peeps,
ReplyDeleteTodome, will you be translating the novel? The one about Hiromi's Grandmother? If not, does hints anything regarding the Kurusu? Who was the Kurusu who swallowed Hideo? Will the other series explain anything regarding these topics?
I loved this manga to death! I have introduced this manga to many people and they enjoy it big time!
Please Todome, respond this message.
Thanks!
Damn, really? That's the ending?
ReplyDeleteOh well, Thank you for your time and hard work Todome.None of us would be reading it either way if it wasn't for you I am grateful. I will miss checking back every week for a new chapter.
Take care and godbless.
Thanks for the translations and the hard work!

ReplyDeleteAny news on I am a Hero in Nagasaki and I am a Hero in Ikebukuro? Did the volumes get published already?
Thanks for all your hard work. Many of us really appreciate the effort you went through.
ReplyDeleteYou were the real heroes. Thanks for the translation.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the explanation, although it is the readers who ultimately had to suffer for this decision. Big thanks to Arphage for bringing this to us
ReplyDeleteThank you for having translated this, I've read your version till the end. Even tough it's from almost 2 years ago. Thanks again
